A safe working environment
All applicants should be aware that they are entering an industry with a zero tolerance to drugs and alcohol, and will be required to undertake a random drugs and alcohol screening test at some stage during their apprenticeship.
Working in the energy sector can involve varied and hazardous working conditions:
- Working outdoors and in adverse weather conditions
- Shift work
- Working at height
- Working in confined spaces
- Working within highly regulated and controlled areas
- Working with hazardous equipment and materials within high hazard environments
- Wearing specialist safety equipment
- Working away from home for extended periods
- Working over water
