The APTUS story

Building strong foundations for energy careers

Previously known as the Oil and Gas Technical Apprenticeships Programme (OGTAP), APTUS has been providing apprentices with unique onshore and offshore work experiences since 1999.

Combining classroom learning with on-the-job work experience, the programme offers newcomers to the energy industry a chance to gain recognised qualifications, practical training and hands-on experience with an employer.

Powered by OPITO and ECITB

APTUS apprenticeships are managed by OPITO and the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB). OPITO is the industry-owned, global safety and skills organisation for the energy sector, and ECITB is the employer-led skills body for the UK's engineering construction industry.

These two organisations work with leading operators and contractors across the energy sector to deliver the apprenticeships. Joining apprentices are matched with either OPITO or an ECITB partner company, who will provide continuous support and mentoring throughout the apprentice's journey.
